QUICK NOTES BEFORE YOUR FIRST VISIT:

  • We are located at 354 Merrimack St. Unit 341. Enter Building 354 from DOOR A (same entrance as Salvatore’s Restaurant). Then take the elevator to the 3rd floor and walk down the hallway until you see the giant mirror. Our door is right there, Unit 341.

  • Reservations are STRONGLY recommended. If we hit our capacity, we cannot accept walk-ins. We keep a low capacity to ensure the best learning experience for little ones and relaxing atmosphere for grown-ups.

  • Each reservation “spot” is for a family—you do NOT need to reserve for each individual member of your family. You can always cancel if something comes up and your pass will stay on your account for next time.

  • STEMspot’s exhibits and activities are designed for children ages 0-7. Older siblings may assist their younger siblings as “helpers” during a visit but will be asked to stay on the café side if they are playing too roughly in the presence of younger ones.

  • Children ages 6 months and up pay for admission.

  • Adults and babies under 6 months are always FREE with a café purchase.

  • Socks are required in the play area.

  • Outside beverages are not permitted, as we have espresso-based beverages crafted by baristas on-site.

  • Outside food is welcome as long as it is nut-free to protect friends with allergies. We offer healthy snacking options and if you want a full meal, Salvatore’s is right downstairs with pastas, pizzas, and other delicious options.

The Power of STEM

Hands-on STEM materials & activities provide young children with rich learning experiences that support cognitive, critical thinking, and social-emotional development in a fun and engaging way.

Here’s why we’re excited about STEM-driven play:

  • Curiosity and Exploration: Traditional memorization/teaching methods can dampen kids' natural curiosity. Our space encourages asking questions, experimenting, and discovering how things work without being rushed to the “right” answer.

  • Preparedness for the Future: Early STEM experiences help kids understand the world and develop skills for future careers. According to the World Economic Forum, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity are among the top skills needed for the future. Our exhibits foster these abilities to help kids succeed in school and beyond.

Studies show that play is a powerful tool, and early STEM engagement through play can cultivate a future generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers!

Designed for kids & grown-ups!

At STEMSpot, we designed experiences for little ones (ages 0-7) while giving equal attention to the needs of grown-ups in the space. Many parents experience “loneliness in parenthood” as they struggle to juggle parenting, work responsibilities, and household tasks—there is very little time for mental health or rest. Having community spaces to connect with other parents and “find a village” is critical.

STEMSpot is looking out for caregivers by making sure we have plenty of cozy adult furniture, a café that serves made-to-order beverages and snacks, and designated work-zones to catch-up on work within view of their kiddos! Unlike large play complexes or museums, our space is smaller and less overwhelming, so kids and adults can feel comfortable and at-home.

STEMSpot offers flexibility, especially for parents who may not need full-time childcare services. Parents can vary the days and times they come, and can use the space to meet with other parents for playdates or to work together.  We want caregivers to choose STEMSpot as a place to socialize with other adults AND enjoy time with their children--the stress of finding a place that makes everyone happy is over!

Co-working Reimagined

Co-working spaces are usually designed for adults, offering networking opportunities and rentable tables or rooms for working outside the home. But what if you don’t have full-time childcare, work part-time, or are an entrepreneur with a flexible schedule? How can you still leave the house and be productive with your little one in tow?

STEMSpot is reimagining co-working spaces with our café seating and flexible co-working times. Caregivers can work comfortably in our café while being able to see their children from any seat. Alternatively, they can reserve a desk in our separate classroom and work while their child attends a hands-on STEM class. This way, caregivers are close if their child needs them, but they’ve got the STEMSpot “village” making it possible to tackle their to-do list. We can’t wait to grow our co-working options as we hear the feedback and continuing needs of our community.
